It sounds like a fairytale: as a young girl, Cyrille Aimée climbed through her bedroom window in her family house in Samois-sur-Seine to mingle with visitors to the annual Django Reinhardt Festival who were camping in her town. There she was enthralled by the Roma and Sinti culture and their virtuoso musical styles. Later she herself would lead the life of a travelling musician. The hot-club influences can still be heard in her music. Through the Montreux Jazz Festival, where she won first prize in the vocal competition in 2007, she ended up in the US, where she quickly became a star of vocal jazz. On her second album, for the Mack Avenue label, the eclectic Let’s Get Lost (2016), Aimée sings about love in three languages. The New York Times wrote she has a "sweet, girlish voice that she controls with a sniper's precision."
