In an imaginarium, everything is conceivable; the boundaries between fantasy and reality are very porous. That is exactly the idea behind the new project of keyboardist, composer, producer, teacher and media composer Anton de Bruin (25), who also previously founded the group Dragonfruit. Imaginarium is a young Rotterdam-based band that aims to blur the line between club music and concert music. De Bruin saw examples of this in cities like London and Los Angeles. “The elitist label has to be shaken off a bit, jazz has to become the music of the people again,” is the motto. The brand-new project is a kaleidoscope of influences that fuses club music, Afrobeat, cinematic elements and electronics, among other things. The debut single Airloop has already been picked up by radio stations in the UK and US. Imaginarium brings together young musicians whom De Bruin already knew from the group of trumpeter Peter Somuah, who also participates in this project along with up-and-coming sax player Jesse Schilderink.
