Fatima Nyeema Warner, aka Noname, grew up in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood. As a child, she listened to blues artists such as Buddy Guy and Howlin' Wolf, and spent a lot of time in her mother's bookstore. Books and poetry were her first sources of inspiration, followed later by the hip-hop of Missy Elliott. In 2016, Noname self-released the mixtape Telefone, to widespread critical acclaim. In 2018, she put out her debut album Room 25, and in 2023 came the long-awaited follow-up Sundial, which was well worth waiting half a decade for. Noname creates melodic hip-hop with a masterful flow, and, using razor-sharp and lyrics, delivered with humor, she expresses her dissatisfaction with cheating men, disastrous beauty ideals, and the capitalist system. Her first performance at the festival may well prove to be a genuine sensation.
