Rave and jazz, do they go together? Sure. Especially in the world of Lander & Adriaan. The Belgian pair share a love of synthesizers, 90s underground dance and fusion jazz. The duo creates wild jazz raves, with one on drums and the other behind the keyboard and knobs. Things started happening in the lockdown of 2020 and the pair have since found their way to free-spirited club audiences willing to immerse themselves in an eclectic mix of Detroit techno, classic rave and jazz improv. The only possible reaction is to dance, and then search for words like “unsettling,” “weird,” and “virtuoso jazz musicians” at the end of the evening, glistening with sweat. Those who try to interpret the music get bogged down in “sophisti-rave” or “free rave”. The duo themselves use the term “post nudism rave,” and every word of that rings true.
