“Child prodigy” is a term we reserve for gifted musicians who outgrew their living room stage at a young age. People like Prince, Stevie Wonder – and Cory Henry. The singer and multi-instrumentalist astonishes with his multiple gifts but especially excels on his classic Hammond B3 organ, which he fully mastered as a toddler. At the age of six, little Cory wowed audiences at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. He found his soul mates in Snarky Puppy years later, but in 2018 he left that talented outfit to transform venues worldwide into sold-out grooving funk temples with his own band, the Funk Apostles. As a composer, producer and musician, he also found time to collaborate with Imagine Dragons, Smino, Lucky Daye and Rosalía, among others. Along the way, Henry has picked up several Grammy Awards. His latest album, the energetic Operation Funk (2022), was nominated too.
