QUIQUE (real name Enrique Ebbink) is actually fluent in two languages, so his flow is bilingual. He’s an Amsterdammer with a Dutch father and Colombian mother. During his time as a music student, he delved deeper into Latin American culture and discovered reggaeton, as well as Dutch hip-hop. That combination seems to be catching on, because millions have clicked on his songs in recent years. Through playing pop festivals such as Lowlands and Down the Rabbit Hole and successful club tours, QUIQUE has become quite the stage animal, whose one and only goal seems to be for every listener to forget their troubles. This spring will see the swift release of his debut album El Colombolandés. ‘Energía’ is a word that frequently slips into his lyrics, which sums up exactly what he’s looking for – and always manages to get – from his audience.
