The American Joshua Redman is one of the most respected and versatile saxophonists of the last three decades. Thanks to his authentic style and constant creative growth, his career is always in the ascent. It all started back in 1993, when his self-titled debut album immediately earned him a Grammy nomination. As a composer and bandleader, the Californian virtuoso has worked with greats such as B.B. King, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones and Dave Brubeck, and now his sixteenth album Where Are We (2023) is on the shelves. The record, which Redman is set to play at Rotterdam Ahoy, is unique, because it’s his debut on the famous Blue Note Records, and his first ever with a vocalist: the young singer Gabrielle Cavassa. With her refined but powerful voice, the American with Italian roots lends that extra dimension to Redman's interpretations of both classic jazz standards and contemporary rock songs.
