The Amsterdam Klezmer Band started out in 1996 as a group of street musicians playing traditional Yiddish music. Since their busking days, the band has grown into an internationally celebrated band with a solid live reputation. They’ve also become a household name at the festival because of their animated performances. They’ve put out some nineteen albums to date, and enjoyed successful collaborations with the Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest (Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra), Galata Gypsy and Lilian Vieira, among others. The Amsterdam Klezmer Band has reinvented klezmer in a way, through mixing contemporary styles and techniques, with Balkan and Oriental music as its main influences. After a quarter of a century, the group has never failed to ensure its material remains fresh, vital, and, above all, danceable. This year saw the release of their latest album Bomba Pop, produced by Viennese DJ/producer Dunkelbunt, which, once again is inimitable, original, and swings like a demon.
