Just 27, and Kinga Głyk has already released five albums, three of them on the renowned Warner Music label. Her latest album, Real Life (2024), was co-produced by Snarky Puppy founder Michael League. On it, the Polish bassist is joined by an impressive lineup, including keyboardist Caleb McCampbell (Beyoncé) and multi-instrumentalist Brett Williams (Marcus Miller). The influential web magazine All About Jazz had earlier described her playing as evoking memories of Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. So Głyk was no longer a secret. A 2016 clip in which she plays Eric Clapton’s Tears In Heaven has garnered no fewer than 20 million views. One of her career highlights came when she got to play a song with Marcus Miller at the 2017 Leverkusener Jazztage festival. Her stage reputation is growing rapidly, thanks to performances at venues stretching from Poland to Indonesia. With her current energetic live band, Głyk switches smoothly between dreamy passages and heavy grooving funk.
