Born and raised in the Netherlands, singer Kymara had actually set her sights on studying at a rock academy or music conservatory at home. But when she wasn’t accepted, she didn’t let it stop her: she looked beyond the border and ended up in Brighton, England. She has been living there for years now and, more importantly, it’s also where she discovered her unique voice as well as her talent for composing. Her music is a beautiful combination of Nina Simone’s storytelling, the soul of D'Angelo and Janis Joplin’s purity and rawness. In her songs, Kymara takes listeners on a personal journey through her life. She has also been making career moves: her singles have already been picked up in England (BBC Music Introducing and BBC Radio 1) and by NPO Soul & Jazz in the Netherlands. Her latest accomplishment is the EP Live At Artone and her new single Elephant Walk will be released this spring.
