In 2003, Jamie Cullum pretty much effortlessly conquered the jazz world with his third album Twentysomething, and at the same time established a connection with pop music. The youngster managed to carve out a niche within the scene through his own songs, striking arrangements, and especially through his energy-infused shows. In the years that followed, the Englishman had no interest in mere repetition, and continued to reinvent himself, incorporating songs by Rihanna or The White Stripes just as easily as the jazz standards in his repertoire. On his fifth album The Pursuit in 2009, Cullum embarked on a different path. His most recent 'regular' studio album was Taller, which was released in 2019, followed the year after by the Christmas album The Pianoman At Christmas. Cullum has performed at the festival several times, and many regulars will remember his last concert from 2019, when he completely blew the roof off the Nile. With the Brit’s live performances never letting up in terms of their energy and diversity, Jamie Cullum remains an absolute crowd favorite.
