Avishai Cohen is one of the most important representatives of contemporary jazz of the past 25 years, and the oeuvre of the bassist, composer and singer is now up to twenty albums. His captivating live performances have taken him to every major international jazz festival, and Cohen's unique sound and musical statement are widely known all across the globe. The leading magazine Bass Player even rates him as being one of the 100 most influential bass players of the 20th century. Last year saw the release of his latest album Iroko; a project that was a long-cherished wish of Cohen, namely a collaboration with singer and congero Abraham Rodriguez Jr., with whom he has maintained a decades-long friendship. Iroko is inspired by and derived from the jazz tradition, and rooted in Afro-Caribbean music. With Avishai Cohen Banda Iroko Cohen has assembled a star-studded band of musicians who performed with him in the New York club scene in the early 90s.
