With his endearing smile and generous baritone voice, Gregory Porter effortlessly wins over audiences everywhere. Last year in Rotterdam, he had the crowd belting out a verse of the Temptations hit My Girl. Porter's roots are entrenched in classic R&B, soul and jazz - even though he grew up in the rural town of Bakersfield, California. His greatest influence is Nat King Cole, who his mother idolized, and as a result, he put out the album Nat King Cole & Me in 2017. This year sees a return to the festival for the two-time Grammy winner. It will be his eighth time, which reveals a lot about his warm relationship with the Dutch fans. This is also evident from the sales figures for his releases, as Liquid Spirit (2013), Take Me To The Alley (2016) and All Rise (2020) all reached the top 10 of the Dutch Album Top 100. In 2021, the compilation album Still Rising: The Collection was released.
