Melissa Viviane Jefferson, now known worldwide as Lizzo, is a lot: singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, fashion icon, body positivity activist, and a role model for many. She was classically trained as a flutist from age ten al the way through high school, where she started rapping. Although she released two prior albums, it was 2019’s Cuz I Love You that brought her global fame and several hit singles, such as Truth Hurts and Good As Hell. Crowned 2019’s “Entertainer of the Year” by both TIME and Entertainment Weekly, she now has four Grammy Awards to her name. Last year saw the release of her latest album, Special. This year, she will close the festival at Nile hall on Sunday night. And if her performance earlier this year at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome is any indication, NN North Sea Jazz is going out with a bang.
