Yuri Honing has been one of the Netherlands' most innovative jazz musicians for decades. He’s a saxophonist who has left his mark both nationally and internationally through his fantastic musical skills. Honing comes from a musical household, and broke through internationally in 1996 with the album Star Tracks, on which he adapted compositions from pop acts such as ABBA and The Police. It was the beginning of an eventful journey across various venues throughout the world. Honing is not only a gifted saxophonist, but also a standout composer. He created a dual recording with Misha Mengelberg, recorded the album Seven with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian in 2001, and worked with composer and arranger Vince Mendoza for his album Symphonic. With his relatively new Peace Orchestra, Honing has realized a new interpretation of the freer forms of jazz from the 1960s and 70s, combined with modern electronics.
