Samora Pinderhughes is a composer, pianist and filmmaker. He surprised everybody in 2022 with his second album Grief, which conveyed his clear message to the world. Pinderhughes is an activist who is very adept at expressing his views in his own inimitable way. His influences are multiple and varied: from Radiohead to chamber music, Afro-Cuban rhythms and the underground hip-hop of artists such as Kendrick Lamar. He grew up near San Francisco and previously recorded an album with the group The Olympicks. The son of progressively educated academics, Pinderhughes learned at an early age to view the world around him with a critical eye. His music studies took him both to Cuba and the Juilliard School in New York, where his teachers were Kenny Barron and Kendall Briggs.
