Music history is full of stories of artists who struggled to follow in the footsteps of famous parents. For Madison McFerrin, daughter of Bobby, it's been no problem at all. Critics from The New York Times, NPR and Pitchfork, among others, have already given her their approval. No wonder after the impressive calling cards she delivered with her two fully a cappella Finding Foundations EPs (2016, 2018). The Roots drummer Questlove described this twin demonstration of guts and class as “soul-appella”. In her more recent work, such as the self-produced single Stay Away (From Me), McFerrin frames her velvety, melancholy voice with an electronic sound and laid-back beats. She made a big impression with her Europe-wide It's Been Too Long... tour and her sold-out venues in New York and Los Angeles. So McFerrin doesn't have to worry about her famous family name at all and can look forward to a happy future.
