In recent decades, Róisín Murphy has developed into one of the most innovative and mercurial pop stars of her generation. The 49-year-old Irish singer-songwriter is always ready to take on any creative challenge, and she is able to cross multiple genre boundaries with tremendous ease. In the mid-90s, she had major worldwide hits with songs such as Sing It Back, The Time Is Now and Fun For Me as the duo Moloko, together with Mark Brydon. She decided to go it alone though in 2003, creating her own bright star within the musical galaxy, through an avant-garde mix of disco, jazz pop and electro. The experimental Ruby Blue album from 2005 resulted in her being allocated a stage at the North Sea Jazz Festival that same year. At this latest edition, the outré vocalist will bring new material to Rotterdam Ahoy, because September is when her sixth solo album Hit Parade is due for release, the successor to Róisín Machine from 2020. Undoubtedly, Murphy will once again stun the audience with a dazzling display in both a musical and visual sense.
