Philip Lassiter doesn’t have a very long trek to Rotterdam Ahoy, because the American has actually been living in the Netherlands for two years. The connection to Candy Dulfer was already in place when he invited her to play on his recent single Purple, a tribute to Prince. Both Dulfer and Lassiter collaborated with the purple genius: Lassiter arranged and led the horn section of the New Power Generation, while 'our' Candy shared the stage with Prince several times. In keeping with tradition, Purple is an exuberant party track full of blazing hot horns, playful keyboards and a compelling beat. It’s also the sound that the eleven-time Grammy Award-winning arranger and trumpeter prefers to convey in a live setting. Together with his swinging band, Lassiter delivers a vibrant cocktail of Prince, P-Funk, Earth, Wind & Fire, humor, and of course a surefire groove guarantee.
