The American musician Jeff Parker is viewed as one of the most experimental and innovative guitarists around. He grew up in Hampton, Virginia, and later attended Berklee College of Music. In 1996, Parker joined the group Tortoise, an eclectic and much-lauded band. He was also the co-founder of Isotope 217. In the years that followed, Parker worked with contemporaries such as Brian Blade, Joshua Redman and Meshell Ndegeocello. In 2002, he released the album Vega that he recorded together with Bernard Santacruz and Michael Zerang. Parker has since put out a series of amazing albums, regularly collaborating with cornetist and composer Rob Mazurek. Last year, Parker released two albums: Eastside Romp with drummer Nasheet Waits and bassist Eric Revis, and the wonderful Mondays At The Enfield Tennis Academy.
