Explosive is probably the best description of Danish alto saxophonist Mette Rasmussen's playing. Whether performing solo or in uncompromising bands like Mats Gustafsson's Fire! Orchestra and Godspeed You! Emperor, the sparks fly on all sides when Rasmussen improvises at full throttle and with boundless energy. With Mette Rasmussen Trio North, she is launching her new group project Time Travels Through Us for which she wrote fresh compositions. Music where melody meets fire, ignited by American-based rhythm section Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Olaf Olsen. Håker Flaten became known as an improvisational bassist in Norway, in groups such as the Thing and the Source. Also originally from Norway, Olsen plays in the rock band BigBang. Mette Rasmussen Trio North is synonymous with brilliant improvisations, groove-driven bass lines and exciting rhythms.
