Both the press and public agree that pianist, composer and arranger Marco Mezquida is one of the most promising pianists of the current generation. Mezquida manages to weave modern jazz and classical music into an integral form with apparent ease. In his home country of Spain, Mezquida is held in high esteem for his dazzling shows, with the Asociación de Músicos de Jazz y Música Moderna de Cataluña (AMJM) proclaiming him musician of the year no less than four times. Mezquida has recorded in excess of 40 albums, including ten with his own group. He has also accompanied jazz icons such as Lee Konitz and Dave Liebman. His new album Letter To Milos is an ode to his child, and includes all the musical styles Mezquida immersed himself in until his son reached his first birthday. From Latin to baroque, and from progressive pop music to traditional Spanish styles such as corrido maragato and sorteao, Mezquida’s passion always sets his grand piano ablaze, whatever the genre.
