American blues legend Buddy Guy is known as the man who plays 150 shows a year and puts out an album every two years, so basically, he’s one of the hardest working artists in music. All that is now coming to a self-directed end however, a year after his successful album The Blues Don't Lie (2022), which featured Mavis Staples, Elvis Costello, James Taylor and Jason Isbell as vocalists. With the Damn Right Farewell Tour, the now 86-year-old guitarist, who only really broke through to the general public in the 1980s, is waving farewell to his multitude of fans across the globe. This Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award and eight-time Grammy winner arrives at NN North Sea Jazz with a massive number of hits in tow; songs that have colored the more than 50-year career of this founding father of modern blues – or, as he himself has often described it, have always kept him youthful at heart.
