Singer
Naima Joris, the daughter of jazz virtuoso Chris Joris, didn’t discover her singing talents until she was around 27. She sang as a backing vocalist with, among others, Louvain folk/pop band Isbells and Raymond van het Groenewoud. Last year, the world was introduced to Naima’s own touching songs fir the first time. Compositions that came straight from the soul; songs that offer calm and comfort in these confusing and hectic times. Naima’s music reflects the reveries of her soul and is the expression of her deepest emotions and desires, ranging from loss to love and melancholy. She herself named it ‘saudade’; call it a genre in itself. Her long-awaited debut album is due for release later this year.
