Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter and flutist Melanie Charles has done fabulous work representing her Haitian upbringing in her music. London-based jazz musician and saxophonist Nubya Garcia often blends island rhythm, through her Trinidadian roots, with the pulse of the jazz club. Our host Nate Chinen will talk with these two jazz musicians about culture, race, and colonial legacies within jazz music.
