Travel back in time with the Roaring Cats, a collective reviving the swing and hot jazz of the roaring twenties and the dirty thirties. This period, sometimes called the Jazz Age, was a time of flashy costumes and non-stop dance events. The Roaring Cats would not have been out of place alongside Cab Calloway or Duke Ellington in Harlem’s famous Cotton Club. The band performs the extensive repertoire of these legends of yesteryear: from Fats Waller to Jerry Roll Morton, and from Sydney Bechet to the Hot Five and Five Pennies, albeit with a contemporary twist. The group was formed in Amsterdam by Italian bandleader and singer Samuele “Sam” Ghezzi. Following in the footsteps of Calloway and others, the frontman sings and conducts the band, while sometimes joining dancer Helena Kanini in one of her choreographies.
