With an opera singer mother and singer-songwriter father, it's no surprise that Guy Salamon became a drummer and composer. Add to this his Israeli, British and Peruvian roots and you immediately understand his thirst for universal, creative musical expression. Salamon is a graduate of both the Tel Aviv Conservatory and the Amsterdam Conservatory. He has already shared the stage with jazz celebrities like Jesse van Ruller, Tineke Postma and Reinier Baas and is the driving force behind his own Guy Salamon Group. This multicultural octet present catchy and tightly arranged modern jazz that is influenced by icons such as Charles Mingus and Frank Zappa, with room for improvisation and a dash of sparkling Balkan and Israeli folk. For fans of narrative, cinematic music with a swinging touch, this is an experience not to be missed at the festival.
