It's difficult to label the music of jazz composer Tijn Wybenga. Violins, saxophones, drums, samplers and electronics - everything is possible in his world. With his band AM.OK (Amsterdam Modern Orkest) Wybenga started a new musical group that demonstrates the diversity of the young Dutch music scene. The widely acclaimed debut album Brainteaser was released in July 2021. On it are five pieces that Wybenga and his fourteen-member orchestra recorded in the influential Amsterdam jazz venue Bimhuis. On the album, he worked with improvising musicians like Reinier Baas, Ben van Gelder and Joris Roelofs. Wybenga re-used small, improvised pieces as the basis for new grooves, beats and sound patterns. At NN North Sea Jazz, Tijn Wybenga & AM.OK will perform, for the first time, the music for the composition competition of the November Music festival.
