With no fewer than 18 Grammys, two Oscars and one Golden Globe to his name, Argentine musician, film composer and producer Gustavo Santaolalla is a titan in the international music world. His style is a combination of rock, soul, African rhythms, Latin-American folk, and electronics. Santaolalla has produced over a hundred albums. He helped to advance Spanish rock music by producing successful records for big acts like Juanes and Café Tacvba. He has also composed the scores for films and series like Brokeback Mountain, Babel and Narcos: Mexico. TIME magazine called him one of the most influential Latin-American artists in the United States. Santaolalla, who has reached the age of 70, still takes on new challenges of which sound and identity form the pillars. His eclectic repertoire, combined with varied instrumentation and a quest for the perfect sound makes for a unique auditory experience. In a live setting we are most likely to see him playing guitar and mandolin.
