The tightly swinging and at the same time playful New Cool Collective, led by saxophonist Benjamin Herman, really needs no introduction. Since its foundation more than 25 years ago, the party band has toured all over the globe. New Cool Collective have played at major festivals like Roskilde, Lowlands and Fuji Rock, and they’ve worked with Tony Allen, Mapacha Africa and Georgie Fame, among others. Bandleader Benjamin Herman has a broad taste in music and happily throws big doses of Afrobeat, ska and Latin into the mixer, adding a little funk and British new wave to further shake things up. Each time the result is a cocktail that is as surprising as it is refreshing. The same is true of their latest album YUNIKōN, which was released at the end of last year.
