Choosing to study music in the United Kingdom was probably the best decision American jazz vocalist Stacey Kent ever made. Because there she discovered her singular sound by performing at nightclubs and met her partner for life: tenor saxophonist Jim Tomlinson. Since that time, the singer from New Jersey, who is now 57 years old, has built an impressive career, singing a mix of standards, bossanova and French chansons, in close collaboration with her husband. Highlights are the albums Breakfast On The Morning Train, for which she received a Grammy nomination in 2009, and I Know I Dream: The Orchestral Sessions (2017), that received a five-star review in the authoritative jazz magazine DownBeat. Kent sounds warm and comforting, which perfectly colors her impressive oeuvre filled with stories about love, passion, and happy nostalgia. Last year saw the release of her latest album, Songs From Other Places.
