A musician like Troy Andrews, better known as Trombone Shorty, could hail from only one city in the world: New Orleans. With each performance he seduces his audience with the festive sounds his historic birthplace is famous for. He gained his nickname as a young kid when he was already playing the trombone, even though he was smaller than his majestic instrument. Still only 36, it’s almost frightening to see what Shorty has achieved so far: acting, producing, but most of all making music that defies any category. He has worked with Pharrell Williams, Mark Ronson, Foo Fighters and Ringo Starr, among many others. This year he released the genre-busting Lifted on Blue Note, an energetic party album that he composed with a live audience in mind. Shorty can hardly wait to share this new material with a full crowd.
