Zoë Modiga grew up in a township where her grandparents showed her the importance of African stories and culture. Her music draws on the roots of African storytelling, jazz composition and Motown soul and has established her as an accomplished jazz and soul singer. In South Africa she is widely praised and has played at all the major jazz festivals. She has now taken her first steps towards the USA and Europe. With her album Inganekwane, released in 2020, Modiga was ready to conquer the world once and for all. She is a bandleader, singer, guitarist and songwriter. In her songs, traditional African stories are always prominent, while her voice has clear influences of American jazz and soul. In addition, she is an engaging personality on stage and has a love of dance and colorful fashion statements. For Modiga, they are all part of her creative way of telling African stories.
