They themselves call their music “UK-influenced jazz”. The young five-piece Brintex Collective is inspired by the London jazz scene of Kamaal Williams, Yussef Dayes and Joe Armon-Jones, but also by Robert Glasper. So, familiar names at the NN North Sea Jazz Festival. The band started out as a trio centered around keyboard player Brenn Luiten, but has now grown into a five-piece groove monster. After a promising start, the group had to scale back after just two performances because the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down. It gave them time to sharpen their sound. They draw from jazz, hip hop and electronic music, but don't let themselves be limited to any genre. The group have a fresh sound with lots of energy. In the past, they have performed at BIRDfest and Motel Mozaïque. Playing in Rotterdam is a home game for them.
