As an 8-year-old boy vinyl DJ Meneer Funkel, whose real name is Antoon Ozinga, listened to the jazz records he found lying in his parents’ kitchen. They would later form the basis of his now fantastic vinyl collection. Through the years, he gathered many extraordinary pieces; not just jazz, but also latin, gospel and exotica from the mid-1900s. Using them all, he created his rare speciality which nowadays he calls ‘Funkeljazz’. This will be the third time Meneer (‘Mister’ in Dutch) Funkel spins his records at the festival.
