When she was young, Tiwa Savage emigrated to London, but ten years ago she returned to her homeland, Nigeria. She noticed that the music industry there was developing rapidly and wanted to be part of it. In the UK, Savage had already had a successful music career as a backing vocalist with George Michael and Mary J. Blige, among others. Combining seductive Afrobeat and contemporary pop, hip hop and R&B, the singer quickly rose to fame as one of the most promising voices of Africa. And beyond: in 2018 she won an MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act and signed a contract with Universal. Brandy and Nas were among the many featured artists on her latest EP Water & Garri (2021). Savage sings in both English and the West-African Yoruba language.
