The group Mudita consists of three young contemporaries: vocalist Sanne Rambags, pianist Sjoerd van Eijck and trumpeter Koen Smits. Their debut album Listen To The Sound Of The Forest was released in 2018. It was inspired by the landscape of Norway and immediately won an Edison. In 2020, the trio had their eyes and ears on 21 Dutch national parks, in collaboration with Staatsbosbeheer, the Dutch forestry commission, among others. “Nature is the deepest source, it’s there for all of us, without judgment, without demands”, is the statement the album Nature Of The Netherlands makes. The essence of nature is what Mudita wants to reveal in their music. Intense, evocative and balanced pieces, in which Rambags sometimes sings lyrics and sometimes adds vocal sounds to complement the playing of her two band members. They cherish silence, juggle melodies and explore new harmonic paths. Singer and lyricist Sanne Rambags also works regularly with the group Under The Surface.
