South Korean Youn Sun Nah is a vocalist hors catégorie. The former student of French literature made a phenomenal career switch at the beginning of the 1990s. In 1993 she made her debut with the Korean Symphony Orchestra as a gospel singer. Later she made the change to chansons, as a lover of the French language. So it’s no surprise that Young Sun Nah moved to Paris in 1995. She has slowly shifted her focus to jazz music. This was instantly noticeable on her debut album Reflet, which appeared in 2001. Nine years later she made her international breakthrough with the album Same Girl, that became a great success in Germany, France, and South Korea, especially. It led to her performance at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014. Following a long period of rest, the singer returned to the stage in 2017. Her recently released album Immersion is receiving much acclaim.
