For anyone who is wondering why the debut EP by Feng Suave has such a lovely mellow sound; the recording process explains a lot. The Amsterdam band recorded their music in their bedroom, dressed in nothing but their underpants. This makes their self-titled record a true product of a home industry, made by Daniël de Jong and Daniël Elvis Schoemaker. Feng Suave means ‘smooth wind’ and it is a perfect description of the laid-back sound, dominated by angelic high-pitched singing and an intoxicating guitar sound with a whiff of suave seventies soul and psych pop. The band has caused quite a stir with this mix; their songs have been listened to online over three million times. Their EP, released last year in a limited vinyl edition, is sold out, so fans have to surf the web to enjoy the four dreamy tracks. Or come to the festival to admire Feng Suave live, where they will be accompanied by a grooving band.
