Iconic pianist, composer and bandleader Chick Corea (1941) has a tremendous track record. He has won many major music prizes (including 22 Grammy Awards!) and his discography is impressive, to say the least. Corea is known to many for his collaborations with Miles Davis on records like In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew, but he has also made a deep impression as a solo artist - just listen to his legendary record Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (1968)! In 2015, Corea released the double album Portraits, a tribute to his famous colleagues. His most recent album is Chinese Butterfly (2018). Corea is bringing his new Spanish Heart Band to North Sea Jazz. This flamenco-charged octet of Latin rhythm masters includes flamenco dancer Nino de los Reyes. With this project, Corea is looking back thirty years to the time he played with the late Spanish flamenco guitar virtuoso Paco de Lucia, and to the release of the 1976 album My Spanish Heart.
