Although they were formed just three years ago, Greyheads sounds like an acclaimed fusion band that has been playing together for decades. The Rotterdam-based sextet effortlessly blends funk, rock, soul, jazz and hip hop. A steamy, seventies-fusion feel permeates everything, authentically replicated by the overwhelming drum beats of bandleader Nello Biasini, the vibrant keyboards of Matthijs Geerts, the deep saxophone of Ukko Heinonen and the teasing guitar solos of Simone Cesarini. It´s no surprise that the band list Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock among their influences, alongside hip hop producer J Dilla. In 2017, the group released the EP Greyheads x Kytopia that was recorded live in the studio with no overdubs. Confidence is clearly something they have in abundance! And there’s more on the way: Greyheads recently finished recording their first LP, Homes.
