Over the course of his career, tenor saxophonist Houston Person (1934) has released over 75 albums for prestigious labels like Prestige and High Note. Moreover, for years he was the musical partner of singer Etta Jones. He recorded countless songs with her and they toured together many times. Person himself has mainly been active in the jazz genres of hard bop and swing, but today his focus is on what he calls 'soul jazz'. According to Person, this is music that leaves you feeling good. The saxophonist from South Carolina is an optimist: he wants his music to get people dancing, as a remedy for a hard day´s work, for example. Over his lengthy career, Person has not allowed any boundaries to restrict him: he has played on disco albums, gospel recordings, and R&B albums. Every day, this celebrated American veteran proves that age has nothing to do with the joy of making music.
