New Orleans is one of the most fertile hotspots for musical styles that transcend boundaries. It is no surprise that Tank And The Bangas was born exactly there. Led by flamboyant frontwoman Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball, this quintet creates a vibrant mix of traditional soul and funk, driven by sharp spoken word and hip hop. This is presented with a hint of gospel and a large dose of jazz improv. What started as a spontaneous collaboration at an open mic night has since become a phenomenon that is rapidly conquering the world. The Huffington Post recently wrote that Tank and her Bangas cause ‘a musical experience that you have to undergo’. An experience filled with glowing rhythm and blues, energetic rap songs and mesmerizing poetry that keep transforming and growing in strength and beauty in live shows.
