Since his debut album Momentary Setback (2002), Marc Broussard has been building up his reputation as a contemporary soul sensation. He performs live 150 times a year, for an average audience of 1,000 people. He immerses them in his warm, dark voice. Broussard has widened his audience over time, by touring with a diverse collection of legends, including Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, and Maroon 5. He won over even more acolytes with his performances on live television shows of, among others, Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as impressing Dutch presenter Paul de Leeuw. Although he hasn’t yet reached the age of 40, this blue-eyed soul singer has already sold over a half million albums. His sound has been described as bayou or swamp soul because of his southern roots. Broussard was born and raised in swampy Louisiana, as can be heard in the southern passion with which he connects influences from gospel, country, blues, R&B and rock.
