The California Honeydrops are the best-kept secret of the American West Coast. For over ten years they have been lighting up venues all over the world with their contagious mix of funk, R&B, and soul. They use everything: P-funk from Oakland, delta blues from Mississippi, and svelte grooves from New Orleans. Their bandleader is charismatic singer Lech Wierzynkski, son of Polish political refugees. Big artists like Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Buddy Guy as well as Allen Toussaint have taken the band on their tours as a supporting act, and that makes sense. The shows by The California Honeydrops are a party; everything is carried out with Californian ease. No set lists are made and the band is able to anticipate the desires of the audience in a masterly way. A party band, but one with substance.
