Toto at a jazz festival? It’s not as surprising as some might think. Not only is the band made up entirely of virtuoso musicians, but they have worked with a variety of artists, including as session musicians, in very diverse genres, jazz included. Moreover, bandleader and lead guitarist Steve Lukather has played at the festival before, back in 2000 with Edgar Winter. Almost twenty years ago, if you can believe it. Toto have been around for a long time and they are currently busy with their 40th Anniversary Tour. Over the past four decades, the band have sold a dizzying forty million records containing a series of unforgettable hit singles, including, of course Africa, Hold The Line, and Rosanna. But Toto offers more than just an evening of greatest hits, as last year’s visitors to the sold-out Ziggo Dome well know. These top-class musicians like nothing better than showcasing their artistry as soloists. Perfect for a jazz festival!
