The Conservatorium van Amsterdam Concert Big Band consists of 18 of the most talented students of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The lineup reflects the international spirit of the institution that is housing more than 57 nationalities. The band invites national and international guest soloists on a regular basis, such as Jesse van Ruller, Dick Oatts, Terell Stafford, Seamus Blake, and David Linx, among others. This time the band is joining forces with guitarist and composer Reinier Baas, himself a CvA graduate and now a force to be reckoned with in Dutch jazz. Together they embrace new sounds and musical textures that illustrate the times and tendencies in which we are living. From hard swing to surf rhythms and broken beats, all combined in one musical experience. The band will present a selection of works by Baas arranged by himself and conductor John Plomp, who is a renowned jazz pedagogue working with young top talents at a variety of institutes.
