The blues have the power to cut through souls, whereas hip hop embodies the power of the streets and clubs. Singer Rag'n'Bone Man combines the two. Since his breakthrough he has been seen as a phenomenon. Not only because of his wondrous mix of deep hip hop beats and old blues, but also thanks to his appearance: he is a friendly, bearded giant covered in tattoos. His songs form a stark contrast with this exterior; they are emotional and vulnerable. He grew up in England, in a household filled with music, especially the blues played by his father. As a teenager he used to hang out with various hip hop crews and worked on his singing voice. In 2016 he was already present at North Sea Jazz and since that time he has evolved even further. His hit song Human etched his unique soulful and bluesy voice on top of deep beats onto our collective memory for eternity. He recently released the mega hit Giant, together with Calvin Harris.
