Singer
Chaka Khan doesn’t need any introduction: she made her breakthrough in the 1970s as the lead singer of the band Rufus, with whom she released several gold and platinum selling records. In 1978, she also started a solo career; her debut album featured the smash hit single
I’m Every Woman. Later on, she achieved similar success with hits such as
Ain’t Nobody (with Rufus) and
I Feel For You. With her incredibly extensive vocal range, Khan easily switches between soul, funk, and jazz, among other genres. The singer has ten Grammy Awards to her name and has sold around 70 million albums worldwide. She has performed at North Sea Jazz many times; in 2015 Nile hall was filled with admirers during her show. This year audiences are in for a treat when Khan teams up with another legend: the renowned
Metropole Orkest, conducted by
Jules Buckley.
