Belgian singer Selah Sue broke through in 2010 with a debut album reminiscent of both Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse. She quickly gained international recognition and this marked the start of a busy period of her life that ended up lasting six years. Selah Sue is a true friend of North Sea Jazz, having performed at the festival in 2009, 2011 and 2015, but she has had to slow things down a bit recently. She took a break in 2017. During this period of reflection, she gave birth to a son and slowly the urge to make music returned. She is now back on stage, reborn. She will perform at North Sea Jazz in an acoustic setting. This is intentional because Selah Sue (28) is blessed with a fabulous soul voice and this summer she means to get back to basics, back to music in its purest form. Her show is guaranteed to be an especially intimate experience.
